Climate Change: Effective Communication Course

Climate change will affect everyone and everywhere. The challenge will require action by everyone, everywhere. So we need the skills to be able to communicate climate change to diverse audiences and in diverse situations. If you are concerned about climate change you can help other people get active. To do that you need to be able to communicate confidently and effectively. You dont need to be an expert or a scientist: you do need to be good at talking, presenting and listening. If you can communicate well, then you can inspire others to act as well. Whether you want to talk with one person, twenty, or one hundred, there are core skills that can help you get the message across. This one day course will help you build the skills you need to communicate climate change. The training session will provide: 1. Why good communication of climate change is so important 2. Major climate change issues and difficult questions 3. Communicating with people in different situations: Persuading colleagues  lobbying situations - talking to friends  working with business  addressing a large audience 4. The Key skills of communication  speaking, listening, body language, etc 5. Overcoming those inner barriers to good communication 6. Engaging and communicating with diverse organisations 7. Practice delivering persuasive messages and a chance to receive feedback Who should attend this course? This course is for anyone who is keen to get people active on climate change. Whether you work for a local council, a business or a charity, are involved in a local organisation or are simply keen to make a difference this course will give you the skills and knowledge you need. This is a day that will look at communication in different situations from political lobbying to talking in the street, from answering awkward questions to talking with your friends. Greening Your Workforce

Do you want to encourage and motivate your employees to save energy and reduce waste at work? Are you interested in establishing a network of effective Environmental Champions in the workplace? Then this workshop is for you!

The TUC states that UK workplaces generate over 66 million tonnes of carbon emissions each year from the energy and resources they consume but waste on average 30% of the energy they buy! Hereýs your chance to do something about it. This event will look at identifying the barriers to attitude and behavioural change at work, identify the hooks that will motivate employees to take action in the workplace and demonstrate a range of work based motivational strategies that can achieve energy and waste savings. The event is aimed at those responsible for encouraging environmental good practice in the workplace. You may be within a local authority, community business or voluntary organisation. You also may be working for an organisation keen to encourage employees of local businesses to take action and become more environmentally aware.

Carbon Footprinting Of Organisations

This new event explores the background behind carbon footprinting and the methodologies that exist in order to calculate a carbon footprint for an organisation. It explains the difference between carbon footprinting and eco footprinting. It looks at the data required for the calculation, how to set objectives and targets using carbon footprinting data, how to reduce an organisationýs carbon footprint through behavioural change and technology, and may touch on relevant legislation. Case studies will be used to enable you to experience calculating carbon footprints. The event will also cover the support available to organisations wishing to reduce their carbon footprint, including grants and funding. This event is aimed at those who have responsibility for managing their organisationýs energy use and/or environmental performance. This might include energy/utility managers and environmental managers.

The Biggest event of its kind outside London. Something for everyone - All under one roof. Continuing on from the hugely successful, Liverpool Capital Of Culture, which up to now has seen a massive 1.5 million increase in visitors to the city, Better World is pleased to be able to add to the diversity of successful events now taking place at The Arena & Convention Centre.

This anticipated event was only possible to stage in Liverpool, once the Arena & Convention Centre was built. This magnificent venue has been booked up to, and including 2012.

Three large events - each to its own zone.

This is an international event, expected to increase in size and scope each year. Television celebrities will be attending each zone, to give advice, demonstrations, and answer questions.

Music and stage demonstrations will have its own zone, separate from the main hall, with seating up to 400. There will be two other separate rooms with over 50 talks and demonstrations over the three days.
